Biomechanic coaching teaches you simple maintenance techniques to keep your body moving more, moving better, moving more freely. Click on the headings above to learn more, or the top right for a brief explanatory video.
Being involved in movement my entire life as a dancer and now as a Biomechanics Coach and Fitness Professional has made me appreciate how everything is connected - Every breath, every move, every food you eat, every thought or emotion you repress or express effects the way YOU experience life in your body and mind on a daily, hourly or minute by minute basis.
It all starts with mindset, awareness and setting attainable goals and expectations, its up to YOU to take responsibility for your own physical outcome and prioritise healthy changes that will last a lifetime. We all know we need to be moving a lot more but if pain and stiffness is becoming a barrier to that movement then its time to reverse or slow down the impact of inactivity on your body, stop blaming the aging process, change the way you age!
Being able to perform simple everyday tasks with ease and without pain will makes your life fuller and richer.
I want to be independent, feel the vitality, flexibility and strength which comes with the best working version of my body.
Discover the potential Biomechanics Coaching could have on your body and life with either one to one coaching or small group courses.
I use my varied disciplines from 23 years in the fitness industry as a Biomechanics Coach™, Pilates and Yoga Instructor, Women’s 3rd age Health Coach to educate, empower you to care for yourselves, take ownership of your physical state and consider the impacts of your chosen lifestyle. Your body is your vehicle through life so take care of it. Prevention is the action you take today, don’t wait till you are dealing with a cure, as that is incredibly hard to fix.
You feel 100 times better when you’ve been moving. If you feel good with your physical experience, it creates a domino effect of positivity throughout the rest of your life.

Biomechanics is the study of the human body and how it moves in mechanical terms. The science is divided into two areas of study: extrinsic and intrinsic biomechanics.
Extrinsic biomechanics looks at movements, the measurement of those movements or tasks and whether you are performing them most efficiently. It is an important science that is relevant to any sport, fitness or work related physical conditioning.
Intrinsic biomechanics which is the basis of the programme, is the study of how our body the pelvis, spine, shoulder, foot and nervous system is able to perform those tasks or movements in relation to your own mechanical make-up.
Whether you are a professional athlete, a keen recreational sports enthusiast, simply working in an office, or purley wants to maintain the function and mobility to enjoy life understanding your intrinsic biomechanics is the first step to listening to your body, if they are flawed you potentially risk the chances of injury and tissue damage.
Martin Haines MBCA RGRT MCSP SRP Biomechanics Coach, Founder & CEO of UK Biomechanics Coaching Association - tested over 4’000 people and identified important mechanical factors that relate to injury research. He then devised an evidence based manual screening system tried and tested over 30 years with athletes and the general public. It required no machinery, is perfectly safe and extremely effective.

While not a medical programme nor diagnostic, this programme has a huge amount of success with low grade, non specific aches, niggles, recurring injuries and pain. If medical conditions are present this must be considered and I may seek advice from your present therapists or if necessary I may refer you to the appropriate professional locally ( and refund unused credit )
None of the screens are strenuous and you do not have to do anything you feel uncomfortable with. Some assessments will be lying on the therapy couch, some sitting, some standing. Screens for the legs, knees and feet biomechanics which may require gentle hoping or stepping down from a low step. Wear loose clothing, shorts, running tights or leggings to enable me to assess each joint in the pelvis and leg. A strappy vest top is helpful for the shoulder screens or gents may remove their top. I need to assess your spine so visibility of the lower back will be necessary.
The Biomechanics Screening system treats the entire body, I am able to test various joints, muscles and nerves, developing a picture of how well your body performs various movements, rectify imbalances and reduce the effects of further injury and pain. Together we create a bespoke prescription that enables your body to improve its movement capabilities that you will be able to use for the rest of your life.
Our aim is to identity the problem areas, assess which exercises are of the greatest benefit, make any changes to your daily routine at home / work and to get you to your goals as soon as possible.
Please gather together all evidence of medical conditions that you have/had, MRI scans, reports or x rays and be truthful when you answer any questions on the screening forms and lifestyle questionnaire in advance of the programme.
Health and lifestyle questionnaire must be completed before the first session commences. It may be necessary to discuss your suitability or any reservations and questions you have before embarking on the BC programme.
The BC ‘system’ is;
A bespoke plan of action which removes guess work due to the screening process
Its logical, simple and easy to follow - all homework provided
